What is the Presbyterian Women’s organization?
Historically, this organization began in 1912 as the Women’s Auxiliary for the purpose of Bible study, fellowship, and service.  The name was changed in 1948 to Women of the Church and then in 1988 to Presbyterian Women.

How do you join Presbyterian Women?
If you attend a Presbyterian church and you are a woman, you are already a member of Presbyterian Women.  You are welcome to attend all the functions of the organization, and you are eligible to serve in any office of the organization.

What do Presbyterian Women do?
Briefly, we meet monthly in small groups, called Circles, for fellowship and Bible study.  We also have functions during the year which are attended by all women even if they do not regularly attend Circle meetings.

Our Purpose:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
~ to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
~ to support the mission of the church worldwide,
~ to work for justice and peace, and
~ to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

Our Ministry:
Education:  Studying God’s word is an important part of the PW ministry.  We utilize the Horizons Bible Study during our Circle meetings.

Fellowship:  Many activities are planned for 2016-2017.  These events allow women to meet for fellowship and provide opportunities to become acquainted on a deeper level.    Some of these include:

  • Monthly PW Circle Meetings
  • Birthday Offering Celebration
  • Fall Workshops
  • Fall Retreat at Camp Pinnacle
  • Thank Offering Celebration
  • Christmas Celebration

Dates and times for these events will be publicized in our church bulletins and newsletters.

Our Service:
Presbyterian Women are known for our acts of service to their church, locally and at the Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly levels.  We support many local charitable organizations such as The Sharing and Caring Place, Circle of Hope and Habersham Christian Learning Center (HCLC). We provide funds to help support a child at Thornwell Children’s Home in Clinton, SC, as well as support for Presbyterian Homes and PW world mission projects.  PW funds the devotional booklet, “Our Daily Bread”, which is made available to our congregation.   We are responsible for meals and receptions for families after funerals at our church and are known as the “first responders”  during times of illness and family crisis.

We invite you to join us!   For more information, please call the church office at 706-778-2822.
